How does fonio's subscription vs. prepaid billing work?

fonio now only offers a subscription model with predictable pricing — similar to a phone contract where you have included minutes and pay extra only if you exceed them.

Subscription model:

• Simple, predictable monthly pricing

• Included minutes, phone numbers, and additional features per plan

• New features are only rolled out for subscription customers

Prepaid/credit model:

• Pay-per-use based on consumed credit will continue to exist for existing customers/partners from before the switch to subscriptions

• Starting April 2026, pay-per-use cannot be sold to new customers anymore

• New features will only be released for subscription customers

When credit runs out in the subscription and in the prepaid model: All phone numbers are suspended. Customers receive an email warning beforehand. Automatic top-up can be activated to prevent interruptions.
