Sending SMS
Last updated: February 18, 2026
Here you will learn how to send SMS messages in the post-processing of calls with fonio.
In this article, you will learn step by step how to automatically follow up calls with SMS using fonio. This can be helpful if you want to inform someone about the call or send specific information to the caller.
How it works
Define recipient type
Open the SMS post-processing. There you can select who should receive the SMS.
There are 2 options:Dynamic: The SMS is sent to the caller for incoming calls and to the called party for outgoing calls.
Fixed recipient phone number: The SMS is always sent to the same, specified number.
Set sender & condition
Here you can specify who should be displayed as the sender. It makes sense to enter your company name here.
With the condition, you can precisely define when the SMS should be sent. (Example: Caller wants to receive the link for appointment booking via SMS.)Define SMS content
Here you can specify the content of your SMS.
You can use fixed text as well as insert variables that were extracted during the call.Save & test
Now you can save your post-processing and test it directly in the browser.
During test calls, all post-processing steps are also executed if the necessary conditions are met.
